What the manufacture says- First produced in Engalnd in the 17th century majolica is a soft earthenware ceramic originally painted with leaded glazes and fired at extreme temperatures. The extreme temperatures interacted with the oxide glazes to create the brilliant translucent colours specific to Majolica. Victorian Majolica has become highly collectible because of its charming shapes with each piece fortelling its use. This collection of Majolica was collected throughout the English countryside and faithfully reproduced in form and colour from the antique originals.
